Lidl operates across Europe as one of the leading supermarket chains and must meet strict logistical standards in every country to ensure efficiency. In Italy it's one of the most demanding markets in terms of weight regulations. Every load had to meet precise weight limits to avoid fines and streamline operations. To tackle this challenge, Lidl partnered with RAVAS to transform its logistics process and ensure full compliance without compromising productivity.

In a demanding market like Italy, Lidl faced major challenges due to excessive loads in their logistics chain. Each pallet had to be weighed manually upon arrival. Because operators had to move the pallets back and forth to a static floor scale, this was a time-consuming process that hindered operational efficiency. This lack of control over shipment weights not only increased the risk of costly fines ranging from €300 to €4,600, but also caused delays, returns and disruptions throughout the supply chain.

The logistical inefficiency and financial consequences underlined the urgent need for a reliable and accurate weighing solution to streamline operations and guarantee compliance.

To address these challenges, Lidl Italy implemented RAVAS’ innovative iCP Carriage Plate Scales across 25 forklifts in their logistics operations.
