More speed and control

Mobile weighing in supermarket distribution

You receive large quantities of goods every day, which must be forwarded quickly and flawlessly to the correct branches. At the same time, you want to be sure that the weights are correct. This prevents stock discrepancies and ensures fair settlement.

With mobile weighing, you keep an eye on the exact weights at all times. You weigh directly on the pallet truck, warehouse truck or forklift while moving goods, for example during cross docking or order picking. This saves you time, reduces errors and makes you work smarter. This keeps your processes fast and reliable. Exactly what you need in a busy distribution center.

Julián Naidich Imhof, Accountmanager Spain

"At one of our large supermarket customers, we see how mobile weighing helps to organize processes in the distribution center faster and tighter. Orders are accurately checked for weight without employees having to perform additional operations. This saves time and provides more control over the flow of goods every day."

Control your goods flow

Always in control of your inventory

In a distribution center, everything must add up. You handle large volumes every day. Even a small deviation in weight can lead to inventory discrepancies or incorrect deliveries. Accurate weighing helps you prevent these issues.

With mobile weighing, you can check the weight of goods at exactly the right moment: upon receipt, during order picking, or at the shipping stage. This prevents errors and speeds up the process. It is especially important for weight-dependent products, such as fresh produce or bulk goods. In addition, Legal for Trade (OIML) certified weighing is often required when weight is used as the basis for internal settlement or invoicing.

The benefits of mobile weighing for inventory management:

  • Prevents inventory discrepancies and delivery errors
  • Immediate weight checks upon receipt and dispatch
  • Confidence when picking weight-dependent products
  • Complies with Legal for Trade (OIML) requirements
  • Reliable data for administration and settlement

Eliminate human error

Faster weighing with fewer mistakes

In supermarket distribution, your employees work under high time pressure. Every extra step costs valuable seconds. When goods first need to be transported to a fixed scale, the entire process slows down. This also increases the risk of errors, for example when weights are entered manually or weighing steps are forgotten.

With mobile weighing, the weighing process is seamlessly integrated into the normal workflow. You weigh goods while moving them or during order picking. This speeds up the flow of goods, reduces the chance of errors, and ensures that data is instantly available in your WMS or ERP system. As a result, you work faster and increase the reliability of your processes.

Applications

Smart weighing at multiple stages

Mobile weighing adds value at every stage of the distribution process. By weighing at the right moment, you prevent errors, speed up your workflow, and maintain control over your goods flow - whether it’s during inbound, order picking, or handling returns.

  • Goods receiving: check the weight of incoming goods against the delivery note right upon receipt. This allows you to spot any discrepancies before updating inventory records.
Order picking: accurately pick weight-dependent products such as potatoes, vegetables, fruit, or bulk items. This helps avoid under- or over-deliveries to stores.
Return handling: quickly and correctly register the weight of returned goods. This makes returns easier to process and ensures your administration is always up to date.
Shipping control: as a final check, compare shipping weight to order data. This prevents delivery errors and keeps your inventory records accurate.

By using mobile weighing at these key moments, you not only speed up your processes but also improve the quality and reliability of your distribution.

Customer story

LIDL Italy

At LIDL Italy’s distribution center, every pallet had to be weighed manually upon arrival. Operators had to move pallets back and forth to a fixed floor scale, a time-consuming process that slowed down operational efficiency. By installing the RAVAS iCP-32 on their own forklifts, LIDL regained full control of the process. The result? Fewer fines and significant time savings!
