Mobile Weighing

Weighing forklift trucks

Weighing systems for forklift trucks are designed to capture load weight directly during transport, eliminating the need to drive to a fixed scale. This approach, known as mobile weighing, can significantly improve efficiency in logistics operations by saving time, reducing unnecessary movements, and enabling real-time data collection.

Two commonly used mobile weighing solutions are weighing forks and carriage plate scales. While both serve the same purpose, they differ in design, durability, and suitability for specific working environments.

Mobile Weighing Forks

RAVAS iForks

The RAVAS iForks are wireless weighing forks that can be mounted directly onto a forklift truck, replacing the standard forks. Because all weighing components are integrated into the forks themselves, installation is quick and straightforward, no technician required.

The RAVAS iForks are available with various indicator and connectivity options, making it possible to integrate weighing data into existing WMS or ERP systems. While the built-in load cells are protected, environments with excessive dust or aggressive handling may affect durability over time.

Weighing Carriage Plate Scale

RAVAS iCP

The RAVAS iCP, or intelligent Carriage Plate, is a weighing system that integrates into the forklift's carriage while allowing the use of standard forks. With its load cells positioned in the carriage plate, the system is designed to handle tough conditions and intensive use.

It offers a high level of durability, making it suitable for environments where forklifts are frequently exposed to impacts, debris, or variable load types. Just like the iForks, the iCP supports multiple indicator options and can be connected to data systems for seamless integration into logistics processes.

Accurate and safe

What do they have in common?

Despite their structural differences, the RAVAS iForks and RAVAS iCP are both engineered for high-precision weighing on forklifts. Here’s what they share:

  • High accuracy: Both systems use integrated load cells to measure weight with a precision of 0.1% of the load.
  • Legal for Trade options: Both are available in certified versions for commercial transactions.
  • Wireless data communication: Equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities for real-time data transfer.
  • Compatible indicators: Choose from the same range of RAVAS indicators to display and process your weighing data.
  • Optional printers: Both can be equipped with printer options to generate instant receipts or records of weighed loads.

Key considerations

Choosing the RAVAS iForks or RAVAS iCP

Choosing between iForks and the iCP largely depends on your working environment and how the forklift is used. iForks are ideal when flexibility is important, for example, when you want to easily switch the system between trucks or work in a clean, controlled setting. They offer an efficient, low-barrier way to start with mobile weighing.

The iCP, in contrast, is built for durability. It’s a better fit for operations where forklifts are exposed to heavy loads, rough handling, or dirt and debris. If long-term resilience is more important than quick deployment, the iCP may be the stronger option.
